Kingsley (wife of Rufus Kingsley (1816-1867), sister of Lydia Garcelon Steward, later Helen M. Warren), Lucetta Rogers (wife of Walter Rogers), and members of the Steward family (Lydia Garcelon Steward, Joseph I. Steward, Frank Steward). Letters discuss being a railroad engineer in California, the Civil War in California and Maine, Northern Democrats called Copperheads, the presidential election of 1864, running a vineyard and orchard in California and education in California.

Charles Clark Garcelon (September 18, 1840-April 3, 1896); son of Harris and Eliza Garcelon; born in St. Albans, Maine; married to Mary Jane (Woods) Garcelon; railroad engineer; lived in Santa Rosa, California and Santa Cruz, California; died in San Francisco, California.
Helen Maria (or Marie) Garcelon Kingsley Warren (September 4, 1831-December 14, 1916); daughter of Harris and Eliza Garcelon; born in Maine; came to California in 1857 to live with her sister, Lydia Garcelon Steward; married Rufus Kingsley (1816-1867) of Susanville in 1861; married Robert Emmett Warren (1828-1892) of Chico in 1871; died in Redlands, California.
Joseph Ireland Steward (1828-1911) was the proprietor of the Union House in Chico, California and the Princeton Hotel in Princeton (Colusa County), California. He married Lydia Garcelon (1829-1931).
